Welcome Angela

20 October 2008

Mission Team would like to extend a huge welcome to Angela Stephens, who is the new Projects Coordinator for Mission Team.

Angela writes:

It is great to be on board with Mission Team.

Mission and working with the poor have been passions of mine for sometime. I worked in Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya from 2000-2005 with the mission organisation World Outreach.

As a qualified preschool teacher I was involved in several projects including training the teachers of our informal school and initiating a child sponsorship project. 120 children would attend the school each day where they received a free education, lunch and the word of God.

I have travelled throughout East Africa and Sudan training teachers and Sunday school workers. Since returning to Australia I have worked as the Director of a mobile preschool in outback Australia and in a government department in several project roles.

I attend Taigum Community Church on Brisbane’s northside, and have also started a project called Zawadi where I sell Kenyan jewellery and accessories to help generate an income for several families in Nairobi. (see http://www.zawadi.com.au)

I love seeing people mobilised for missions. Going on a short term missions trip changes a person’s life forever. It changes your perspective on the world that you live in, and it invites God to increase your heart for His poor, His lost and His hurting.

Missions is always an adventure.

I look forward to meeting you all,

Angela Stephens
Mission Team Projects Coordinator

Project 1:8 Promotion
27 February 2006

Mission Team has just released its first ever promotional DVD.

This fantastic collection of photos was cleverly put together by Jon Maxwell from the South East Queensland division.

Mission Team would like to specially thank Jon for all the hard work he put into this presentation and the whole series of promotion for 2006.

If you would like a copy of this DVD please email mission team and we will arrange for it to be sent out.

On another note the Project 1:8 Amplify team in South Africa are really fitting in Phuthaditjhaba. They miss home very much but are glad to be serving God in Africa. Why not check out there photo's and say hello to them on the forums.
